Tomb Raider 1-3 Remaster announced!
O.k., I’m late, the Remaster Trilogie was already announced on September 19th at Nintendo Direct.
When I did multible playthroughs of Tomb Raider 1,2 and 4 on the PlayStation Vita a couple of years ago, I celebrated the series as my favorite gaming IP and wished secretely a remaster of the old Core TRs. But at the time, the franchise was in the the hand of Square Enix and I had no hope that SE had any interest in small projects like a remaster of the first gen Tomb Raider games. And of course, SE did not.
The lucky company was the Embracer Group, purchasing the entire Tomb Raider IP including the developement Team for round about $ 300 Million. What a bargain!
Meanwhile Embracer started a cooperation with Amazon, decided producing a TV series and an AAA title with them.
Before these two products will hit the market, Embracer releases a Remaster of the first three games, where all started with Lara Croft and the incredible success for the series in the mid 90s; and beloved by so many gamers till today.
The trillogy is announced to be released at 2024 Februar 24th.
For me as a Tomb Raider fan, a dream comes true, to be able to play these games, preserving the old gameplay and look and feel 1:1, but with revised textures. I really want to stay the games as original as possible. What I would wish too, would a New Game Plus mode, similar the Master Quest mode in OoT on GameCube, with New arranged items, secrets and stuff like that.
I’m very happy about this announced Remaster. A contination with 4/Revelations and Chronicles is welcome!
Even if the trilogy was revealed at Nintendos Direct, it’s a multiplattform release (PS4/5, Xbox One and SeriesX/S, Nintendo Switch, PC).
